Mad Max VR

This project was made with Eliot Bernaud at l'ENSCI les Ateliers directed by Johan Da Silveira and Alexandra Radulescu.

The title of the project was VR MULTIVERSE and we were asked to choose a sequence from a science movie and recreate the experience inside of Unreal Engine with a virtual reality setup.

Concept and research

The movie we chose was Mad Max Fury Road. It's a wonderful movie with a lot of action, cars, explosions and beautiful desert shots!

We first picked a scene from the movie. We found the most immersive one was the car chase in the desert where Max the protagonist is attached at the front of the car.

We then made some graphical research on what we would have to make (assets, scenes, colors, ambiance...)

Assets

Since there was a lot of different cars in the movie, we had to model some of them:

> Gigahorse

> Doof wagon

Integration in UE4

It took some time but we managed to import all the models, add some vehicle physics to the cars and place lights and textures.

Here are some screenshots in Unreal:

Final presentation

For the final presentation, we used a fan and a metallic structure to produce vibrations for the experience to be more immersive for the user.
